Frankly speaking. Would you rather buy a
boat made by someone who knows nothing about the sea and
its mysteries or from a sailor who has sailed more than
20,000 miles in South America, Europe, the Caribbean, or
crossed the Atlantic and participated in the Buenos Aires
– Rio regatta?
Well, it is just this incomparable sailor
who is responsible for the success achieved by Schaefer
Yachts, the shipyard that grew the most in the past 10 years
and is considered the best in Brazil by the specialized
critics. A Schaefer Yachts motorboat is not a project that
has been copied from or adapted based on similar American
or European vessels, conceived for sea conditions that are
entirely different from the Brazilian ones. Rather, these
are unique vessels, designed to sail in the tropics and
using solutions its competitors never dreamed of.
True motor-boats, Schaefer’s vessels
have a five-year structural warrantee for the hulls, produced
at a self-owned 9.000 square meter facility in the municipality
of Palhoça, Florianópolis Metro region, that
is fully sectorized and was conceived to produce such vessels.
With upwards of 800 units delivered since it was established,
Schaefer Yachts customers’ high levels of satisfaction
are your biggest guarantee that you are purchasing the country’s
top motorboats.
Márcio Schaefer (46) is Schaefer Yachts’
president. In the past, he participated in different nautical
industry activities, and is now considered one of Brazil’s
most experienced boat constructors. A yacht designer for
more than 20 years, he studied naval architecture in Buenos
Aires in the early 1980’s. Schaefer worked for several
shipyards in Brazil, Argentina, Spain and England, holding
different positions, such as designer, in new product development,
and even building carbon fiber race boats. He designed many
23’ to 42’ sailboats. The Schaefer 31’
sailboat was eminent in the last decade and is currently
one of the most competitive ORC-CLUB-class vessels. In fact,
it won the 2002 Brazilian championship. Above all, however,
Márcio, a four-time Brazilian ocean race champion,
is passionate for yachts and has sailed since he was a kid.
He has participated in several regattas, such as the Buenos
Aires - Rio, the Cowes week, La Niolargue, Rolex Swan World
Cup, and in the crossing of the Atlantic.
Mr. Schaefer is responsible for designing
the Phantom vessels, from beginning to end, including quarter
distribution and construction approaches, but focusing particularly
on design. His experience as a designer is what made all
the difference for the Phantom boats to face the competition.
More than 900 23- to 42-foot vessels he conceived are currently
sailing Brazilian waters.
